Synopsis : |
It is traced from this life to previous life. There are immeasurable secrets in lives. Chen Shih-Ming was born in Southeast Asia and had immigrated to America as a boy. Accidentally, stroke by his romance of previous life, Every full moon night, he can smell Dragon Eye congee in his dream. Ho Shin-Yueh of Tainan, Taiwan, beckons Chen Shih-Ming in his dreams: “ The Dragon Eye congee is ready. Please enjoy it.” The figure of Ho Shin-Yueh who was his lover from previous life becomes clear bit by bit. Chen Shih-Ming comes to Taiwan by chance. Following music of erhu fiddled in his dream, he searches for the secret deep inside the soul. He looks for his lover who beckons him to eat Dragon Eye congee and the four-leaves-clover necklace that his lover, Ho Shin-Yueh, grasps in her hand. Can Chen Shih-Ming find Ho Shin-Yueh his lover of previous life? Is Ho Shin-Yueh still living, or dead? Aged or worn? Chen Shih-Ming looks around and finds the mysterious old house. He pushes through the doors. The scenery is familiar. There is a young man’s photograph hanged on the wall. The young man lived Chen Shih-Ming’s previous life. The Dragon Eye congee on the table smells sweet. The pretty girl Ho Shin-Yueh has become a gray-haired woman. She puts a bowl of Dragon Eye congee on the table and beckons toward the photograph. “ The Dragon Eye congee is ready. Please enjoy it.” The Dragon Eye congee was Chen Shih-Ming’s favorite food in his previous life. Chen Shih-Ming suddenly realizes that Ho Shin-Yueh loves him very much. Here are the young Chen Shih-Ming and the old Ho Shin-Yueh. Chen Shih-Ming holds weak Ho Shin-Yueh’s hand. They revisit places of previous life together. Comes another full moon night. Chen Shih-Ming no longer dreams. There is no longer flavor of Dragon Eye congee. Ho Shin-Yueh has waited for decades. But she can not wait till Chen Shih-Ming solved the mystery of transmigration. Grapping Chen Shih-Ming’s hand with a four-leaves-clover birthmark, Ho Shin-Yueh closes her eyes with satisfaction. It is dusk. Chen Shih-Ming sadly stands in front of Ho Shin-Yueh’s photograph and misses her. It can be said, “The love, though lost, is to be remembered forever.” |
