Nick has lost all his money on the stock market and spends his days in misery, seeking comfort in marijuana, which he grows in his apartment. In his desolation, he calls a help line and gets to know Chi, a volunteer counselor. Chi is unhappily married. Nick and Chi’s empathy for each other draws them closer. When Nick tries to ask Chi out but is repeatedly rejected, he begins projecting his fantasy of Chi on Shin, the new girl at a betel nut stall downstairs. Nick and Shin indulge in sex and drugs and Shin naively believes that Nick has fallen for her. When Nick discovers that Chi is not what he imagines her to be, his fantasy world falls apart, and he shrivels away like his dying marijuana plants…
