Born in 1958, Jong LIN received his MFA degree from Graduate Division of Film and Television Department of Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, New York University. He began his film career as cinematographer in his friend, also a NYU film and television alumni, Ang LEE’s “Pushing Hands.” (1992推手) Jong LIN was also director of cinematography for Ang LEE’s two other features, “Wedding Banquet”(1993喜宴) and “Eat Drink Man Woman,”(1994飲食男女) which has won him Best Cinematography Award in the Independent Spirit Awards. Since then LIN had worked for Mainland Chinese film directors PENG Xiaolian(彭小蓮) and XIE yang(謝衍). In 2000 LIN started to work internationally. He was the cinematographer for British director Gurinder CHANDHA’s “What’s Cooking”(2000) and “Bend It Like Beckham.”(2002)
