Born in 1964 in Taipei, Yu-Lin Wang graduated from Department of Forestry and Resource Conservation at National Taiwan University before studying film at School of Visual Arts New York City. He founded Magnifique Creative Media Production Co., Ltd. as an editor, director, and producer. He won three Golden Harvest Awards respectively with Taiwan's Soldiers, Lonelier than the Firework and The Sad Waltz. He was nominated for Best Original Screenplay of the 54th Golden Horse Awards with Alifu, the Prince/ss.
