Born in 1991 in Taichung, Hung-Yi Wu followed her for cinema and studied at Department of Motion Picture of National Taiwan University of Arts after graduating from College of Law, National Taiwan University. Her graduation work On the Waitlist was nominated for Golden Harvest Awards and Youth Film Festival and won Best Director of Seoul International Women's Film Festival and Special Mention of International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.
