Yu was once a film and documentary director, the coordinator-in-chief of Cinema City Company Incorporated for the Taiwan district, a director of Taiwan Visual Ethnography Association, and an imagery counselor for Government Information Office. His features films include: Papa Can You Hear Me Sing, Myth of a City, The Outcasts, Third Bridge, Two Painters; and his documentaries: Dance Party(wu yan), Taiwan’s New Year(Taiwan xinnian), and History Unfolding on the Palm(zhangzhong wu chunqiu).
