Biography: |
Shu Qi has made over 50 movies in an eight-year period. Her breakthrough came when Hou Hsiao- h sien cast her in "Millennium Mambo" (in competition, Cannes Film Festival 2001). Some of her recent films include "The Island Tales" (in competition, Berlin Film Festival 2000) directed by Stanley Kwan and "Hidden Whisper" (in critic's week, Cannes Film Festival 2000) directed by Vivian Chang. Besides art-house cinema, Shu also appeared in some box-office hits: "Gorgeous" (with Jackie Chan), horror film "Visible Secret" and "So Close" , which is regarded as Asian "Charlie's Angel". Shu-Qi has proved her acting credibility by winning the prestigious Golden Horse awards in Taiwan for best supporting actress. She has also received a nomination for Best Actress from the Golden Horse Awards. |
