Wayne PENG

Director

Wayne PENG is a natural person. He speaks slowly and looks like a literary man. This coincides with his own claim that he uses words instead of images to think. It\'s hard to imagine what makes him entered into the advertising business.

He was born in 1964, Taiwan. When he was a teenager he likes movies very much. Realizing that going abroad is the only way to study in great film schools, he studied physics when he went to college. After studied physics for one year, he felt that movies are still what he likes the most. However, he didn\'t want to take the entrance exam again, so he transferred to department of foreign language. To satisfy his enthusiasm for film production, he interned in several production houses often. He graduated in 1986. After 2 years of military service, he was 24. Finally he got his first chance to shoot his first CF.

To avoid being restrained by others, he refuses to join any production house and remains as an independent filmmaker. His early masterwork “China Bank”series is a rare piece that blends ethnic spirits well with poetry: spacious images, great significance. Although he bases in Taipei, PENG never considers himself as a Taiwan native director. He describes himself as always being in the state of \"drifting\". He has made several well-known CF for clients like Just Gold (HK), Nippon Paint, Singapore Air Force & Ericsson...etc. His CF style is like his person, natural and reaching the point.

Wayne PENG is ranked No.14 for the most awarded directors in the world in 1999 according to The Gunn Report.
