陳揚
CHEN Yang

Born in 1956, Chen Yang is a notable Taiwanese composer who has shown great talent in music since young age. He started learning to play the piano at 5, and composed commercial music at 8. When he was 13, he was mentored by Lee Zhi-chuan, the "musician of second generation of new Taiwanese music." At the age of 15, he published a solo piano collection and held a recital at Jhungshan Auditorium. After graduating with a degree in music theory from the Department of Music at Chinese Culture University, he went to the U.S. to pursue further studies at Dick Grove School of Music. Specializing in composing, arranging, and producing music, Chen's works span theatrical productions, films, commercials, and albums. He has received numerous awards at the Golden Horse Awards, the Golden Bell Awards and the Golden Tripod Awards. In 2015, he won the Golden Melody Award for special contribution. He is one of the major driving forces behind the music industry in Taiwan.
