Judy Ongg (1950-) moved to Japan with her family at a young age. Her acting career began in her teenage years with the Japan–U.S. co-production “The Big Wave”. She won Best Leading Actress at the Golden Horse Awards for “Love Can Forgive and Forget” in 1972 and received the Special Acting Award at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival for “Love Begins Here” in 1973. In addition to starring in films produced in Taiwan, she also regularly starred in the Japanese television series “Oedo Sosamo” and Japanese films and has won Best Actress in the Television Category at Kyoto Citizens Film Festival. She also collaborated with renowned director Tsui Hark fot the wuxia classic “Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain" and appeared in “The Pillow Book” directed by Peter Greenaway. In recent years, she returned to Taiwan and received widespread acclaim for her performance in “Sunshine Women’s Choir”. She also starred in the series “Sunny” and films (“Tracing to Expo ‘70” and “A Teacher of Great Soldiers”).
