After graduating from Department of Microbiology of Soochow University, thereafter, I-Hsuan Su went to France to study cinema. He studied film directing in Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français and received in-depth training in strict organizing and planning on film shooting.
During his four years in France, he was deeply influenced by the French artistic environment, which greatly broadened his thoughts and creative horizons, and his works have been more diversified. In 2011, Lost and Found received Funds for Short Films, MOC, Taiwan.
In 2017, He received grants from Public Television Service and completed TV Movie, Where the Sun Don't Shine, which was nominated for 6 Golden Bell Awards, won Best Miniseries or Television Film, Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film and Best Newcomer in a Miniseries or Television Film, and was selected into the 2019 INPUT.
The project proposal for his first feature film, Who'll Stop the Rain, based on the 1994 class strike incident of a department of fine arts won Domestic Film Fund in 2020 and was selected into Produire au Sud Taipei (Taipei Film Festival and Festival des 3 Continents, Nantes) and Talents Tokyo in 2018.
In 2019, The 2014 Consensus for Tai-gi channel of Public Television Service was nominated for Taoyuan Film Festival and Golden Harvest Awards. He also was one of the directors of TV series, Detention. He is good at telling stories with images, and his works are full of humanity.
