Wei-Shan Sunny Yu earned a master’s degree in screenwriting from London Film School and a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Tamkang University. Her directorial and screenwriting debut "Children" (2015) won the NETPAC Award at the Hawaii International Film Festival and was selected for Taipei Film Festival, Tokyo International Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival, etc. Her short film "2923" (2018), a part of the film collection "Dear Loneliness", won Housen Short Film Award Special Mention at the Osaka Asian Film Festival and was shortlisted for Best Short Film at Taipei Film Awards and Golden Harvest Awards for Outstanding Short Films. She co-authored the screenplay "Mama Boy", which won the Second Prize of the Excellent Screenplay Award (Ministry of Culture, R.O.C.).
