Born in Yilan in 1959, Ju Lin began to learn oil painting at the age of 13. In his adolescence, he studied painting in the Department of Arts and Crafts of Fu-Hsin Trade & Arts School. His versatility was embodied in his roles as the owner and chef for the bistro “Stand” and Taiwanese rock PUB, Xi Rang. He was in good terms with actress Brigitte Lin, screenwriter and writer Echo Chen, director Hsiao-Hsien Hou and photographer Chao-Tang Chang. He has made several guest appearances in films by Hsiao-Hsien Hou by chance. For his leading role in Raydio, he was nominated for Best New Performer of the Golden Horse Awards.
