Yang Shou-Yi obtained a bachelor's degree in Film from the Department of Radio, Television and Film at Shih Hsin University and a master's degree in Motion Picture from National Taiwan University of Arts. He has directed documentaries for National Geographic Channel and Discovery Channel. He has received the Golden Bell Awards for Best Natural Science Documentary Program for “Insect Centennial in Taiwan”, the Golden Bell Award for Best Cinematography for Non-Drama Program for “Inside: Taiwan's Ultra Marathon,” and the Remi Award in the Nature & Wildlife (Film &Video Prdns category) at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival for “Enduring Space and Time: The Vitality of Southern Penghu Marine National Park”. He also directed “Braving the Peak”, “Inside: Taipei Grand Trail”, “Taiwan to the World: Plant Hunter”, “Tuning Architecture: The Life of Albert Xu in Sound”, and documentary series such as “Taiwan’s Military Elite” and "Taiwan Revealed”.
