Bruce Chiu is a director and screenwriter. Originally a time-lapse photographer, he later studied for a master's degree in film production at the University of Southern California. His screenplay "A Far Away Hope" was shortlisted for the Excellent Screenplay Awards. The short film "Imperfectly Complete" directed by him was selected for the Raindance Film Festival, a British independent film festival. His directorial debut feature, "A Girl out of the Country", was selected for the Hawaii International Film Festival and shortlisted for NETPAC Emerging Asian Director Award at this festival.
