Siao Hei, Da Bing, A-siang and A-jhong do not believe the old soldier's stories, so one dark night they find their way to the ghost room. As a result, they scare themselves. As the new lieutenant arrives, all the soldiers see his physical strength. They also often see an old man and a young woman quarrelling when they pass by the ghost room.
One day, A-Siang and A-jhong see the old man carrying a cloth bag into the ghost room. They suspect the old man of having killed someone, but a woman appears, saying that she is Siu-siu, the old man's daughter, and that the old man is burying his beloved dog. One night not long after the new lieutenant arrives, he kills A-jhong's little favorite dog. When A-jhong stands guard, he steps on a spell-binding charm.
