When detective Ke Nan investigates the murder of Wu San-siao, he discovers the fingerprints of Wu's wife, Dai-mei, on the murder weapon. Yuan Li, who arrives for a visit on the same day, confesses to having seen Dai-mei stab her husband. Afterwards, Dai-mei left with her daughter Siao Rong. Ample evidence suggests that the murder was committed by Dai-mei and her daughter. As Ke prepares to return to the scene of the crime, he meets his younger cousin A-jhen, who is a fan of detective stories and wants to help Ke solve his case.
Ke and A-jhen finally find Dai-mei and Siao-rong, who says that her mother was taken. Detective Wang Da-wei from Homicide says someone has filed a report that Ke has committed a murder. They then find the dead body of Yuan in a wardrobe. A-jhen later saves Ke. The two review the case, feeling suspicious of towards Song-gui. Why would he lie? They then decide to meet evil with evil, and call up Song-gui to frighten him. As expected, Song-gui is frightened. The true reason for the murder of Dai-mei's husband is that he was involved in extortion. He had taken photographs of Sing-guo and Yuan Li and then used the photographs to extort large sums of money, . Yuan Li made out the motivation behind Sing-guo's actions.
