On the afternoon of the Independence Day in 1996, a Taiwanese- American boy Felix posted a puzzling notice on the door of His bedroom. Three hours later, he ended his own life. His father, Dr. Wen, was shocked and devastated by this terrible incident and eventually moved away from Iowa City where he had lived for 20 years. The sunny, warm climate of Miami, his new home, and the passage of time seemingly distance Dr. Wen from the traumatic experience, but his grief still persists. Six years later, a boy from Peru, struggling to find a way for survival, came to receive treatment by Dr. Wen. Instead of the interaction between the doctor and his patient, this film focuses on the transience, conflict, and enigma of life through the stories of two boys at the same age. Close
