Michelle Chu, born in 1977, is an independent documentary filmmaker who holds a master's degree in filmmaking from the National Taiwan University of Arts. In 2008, she co-founded Backstage Studio Co., Ltd. with Director Yang Li-chou. In 2010, her work "Father" was accepted by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Project Promotion (FPP). Later she has served as the producer for director Yang's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," "Young at Heart: Grandma Cheerleaders" and "The Moment." In addition to production work, Chu has also been engaging in making documentary films. She has won the Golden Harvest Award for outstanding short films, Citizen Film Festival Award for excellence at the Taipei Film Festival, Citizen DV Special Jury Award at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Gender Awareness Special Award at the Women Make Waves Film Festival Taiwan. Her works have often been accepted by domestic and international film festivals, showing her talent and ability in directing.
