Tom Lin Shu-Yu

Tom Shu-Yu Lin (1976-) is a director and screenwriter. He obtained a Master's degree in filmmaking from the California Institute of the Arts. He has lived in Taiwan and the United States since childhood. He specializes in creating tension with innovative cinematographic language and scenes. His first short film "The Olfactory System” was shortlisted for Golden Horse Award and won the Taipei Film Award for Outstanding Work and the Golden Harvest Award for Outstanding Short Film. He was the assistant director of "Wintry Night II" (Public Television Service) and the movie "The Wayward Cloud". His directorial works include "The Pain of Others" (nominee for the Golden Horse Award for Best Short Film and winner of the Taipei Film Award for Best Narrative Film and of the Golden Harvest Award for Best Narrative Film and Best Screenplay), the feature film "Winds of September" (winner of the Golden Horse Award for Best Original Screenplay), and "The Garden of Evening Mists" (nominee for nine Golden Horse Awards). He has also produced/directed "Starry Starry Night", "American Girl", "Yen and Ai-Lee", etc.
