Tan is an actor, writer, and a Jazz critic. He once served as a juror for Golden Melody Awards, and a lecturer at the Cultural Center. As an actor, he participated in such TV dramas and films as Four Young Masters in Beijing, The Personal Ad, Transient Glory of Beijing, Beauties on the Internet, Take Care My Love, Home is Pigsty, The Outcast Daughter, and Four Daughters. At the 11th Golden Horse Awards, he garnered the Best Child Actor for his performance in Who Is To Blame.
