Graduated from Department of Film making of Taipei National University of the Arts, Zhi-Yun Lin majored in fine arts. During her school years, she served as an art director for many student films. In 2016, she participated in the production of the film Pigeon Tango. In 2019, she and Chi-Wai Cheong co-directed the film Someone Who Was Lost.
