The term “omotenashi” in Japanese describes the virtue of traditional Japanese hospitality. Omotenashi is set in Mingyueguan (The Bright Moon Hotel; 明月館), a Japanese-style hotel in the suburbs of Kyoto. There are hardly any guests, because it’s old and stands in a remote location. However, the Mingyueguan is bought by Charles, a construction company owner in Taipei.

An old friend of the previous owner of Mingyueguan, Charles sends his son Jacky to Kyoto to supervise the renovation project for the hotel. Jacky, on the other hand, only wants to take this opportunity to get back together with his ex-girlfriend Naoko, and find a way to secretly sell the unprofitable hotel. But more twists and turns in life await him, as Jacky learns about Omotenashi.
