The Love of Three Oranges depicts life and love among the younger generation in Taipei during the 90's. JJ, a pizza boy, bumps into his ex-girlfriend Pony who is now in a relationship with the beautiful Mimi. On his first visit to the girls' apartment, JJ gives into Pony's seduction and makes love with her in the presence of Mimi, who is seemingly asleep. Later, upon waking in the middle of the night, JJ finds Mimi sobbing alone in the dark. As the days go by, JJ finds himself more and more obsessed by Mimi. Employing baroque visuals and a strong musicality, director Hung Hung paints a stunning portrait of impossible desire and the work of memory. Close
