Shen Ko-shang (沈可尚) was born in Taipei and graduated from the Department of Motion Picture of the National Taiwan University of Arts. In 1999, his graduation project ""Layover (與山)"" was shortlisted by the Cannes' Short films in Competition; however he was suffering from depression at that time and thus turned to seek career in the advertising industry.

Since then, he started serving as a cinematographer for documentaries, including "Baseball Boys (野球孩子)" and "The Pigeon Game (賽鴿風雲)." In 2013, Shen earned a cash prize of NT$1 million at the Taipei Film Festival for "A Rolling Stone (築巢人)."
