Singing Chen is a film director for documentaries and feature films, involving her long-term observation on the current society, as well as profound portrayals of characters and life situations. She excels at using magic realism to highlight the absurdity of the actual society in order to state larger structural problems. She generally treats themes related to humanities, art, and culture with a smooth and lively style, often showing refined emotional elaboration and a rare sense of humor in a rigorous framework.

Her works have been selected into or nominated for many domestic and foreign festivals and awards, including Berlin International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, Fribourg International Film Festival, Creteil International Women's Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Durban International Film Festival, Asian Film Festival Barcelona, Seattle International Film Festival, Golden Horse Awards, Taipei Film Awards, Kaohsiung Film Festival, Taiwan International Documentary Festival, etc. She is also a composer and produces soundtracks for many films and stage plays, so her works are always full of rhythm and rich musicality.
