尹祺

YIN Chi

A Taiwanese director educated in the U.S., Chi YIN received his MFA degree in film production from the University of California at Los Angeles.

 

YIN has directed numerous projects including TV dramas, commercials, documentaries and music videos. He also writes screenplays, including White Snake(白蛇), a 1999 Taiwanese screenwriting award winner.

 

YIN has directed three feature-length films, "In a Strange City" (在陌生的城市 1994, with Kwei-mei YANG (楊貴媚) and Winston CHAO (趙文瑄)), "Fleeing by Night" (夜奔 2000, with Rene LIU(劉若英) and Lei HUANG(黃磊)) and "Comes the Black Dog" (黑狗來了 to be released in early 2004, with Tai Bo(太保) and Samantha KO(柯淑勤)).

 

Fleeing by Night ranked number two in Taiwan's box office for domestic films in 2000. It was selected by Chicago Film Festival, Hawaii Film Festival, Seattle Film Festival, Deauville Film Festival, Pusan Film Festival, Asian Pacific Film Festival, etc. The film was released in the U.S. in May 2002 and it received positive reviews from critics of Los Angeles Times, New York Times and many other film journals.
