Meibana, a 26-year-old Taiwanese from the Tao tribe,has been working in Taipei City for a while but can’t seem to build a better life for himself in the stressful urban environment. He decides to return to his hometown, Lanyu, with a sound recording technician to collect the sounds of nature. Anan, a young teacher, is making the opposite trip – she decides to leave her indifferent home in the city in order to seek the warmth of Lanyu’s nature and community. When Meibana and Anan cross paths, they go past their initial misunderstanding and progress to a mutual connection, falling in love gradually, finally realizing the path they must take and finally finding someone to walk with, side by side.
