Born in 1944, Lee Lung-yue (李龍禹) had started working in the film industry since 1964. Beginning his career as a cinematographer, he had collaborated with Edward Yang for several films including "A Brighter Summer Day (牯嶺街少年殺人事件)," "A Confucian Confusion (獨立時代)," "Mahjong (麻將)," and "Yi Yi (一一)." In 1974, Lee turned to work as a lighting technician for many important Taiwanese film works. He had collaborated with numerous directors including Tsai Ming-liang (蔡明亮), Wei Te-sheng (魏德聖), and Yang Ya-che (楊雅喆). Many people in the film industry praised him as "Master Lee." In 2009, he won the 46th Golden Horse Award for outstanding Taiwanese filmmaker of the year. Lee passed away in 2014
