Established in 2006 as sister company to the acclaimed Arc Light Films, Trigram is helmed by renowned Taiwanese producer Peggy CHIAO (BEIJING BICYLE, BETELNUT BEAUTY, THE PORTRAIT OF HOU HSIAO HSIEN, BLUE GATE CROSSING, THE DRUMMER) Trigram’s goal is to nurture young filmmakers and deliver refreshing genres that appeal to both masses and critics. HEAR ME was not only box-office champion of 2009 but also winner of ‘Best New Performer’ at Taiwan Golden Horse Awards and ‘Audience Award’ at the Osaka Asian Film Festival.
Trigram sets to continue Arc Light’s practice of uniting talents of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong to produce Chinese-language films that represent Asian cinema on the international stage. THE DRUMMER (2007) fused elements like a 2nd-feature director, regional cast like Tony Leung, Jaycee Chan, Angelica Lee, and an exclusive participation by Taiwan Zen Drummers U-Theatre. The film earned a Piazza Screening at the Locarno Film Festival, a ‘Grand Jury Prize’ nomination at Sundance and a Taiwan Golden Horse ‘Best Supporting Actor’.
With a string of youth-oriented films on the slate for 2010, such as LOVE YOU 10000 YEARS, ME 19 AND TEMPEST OF FIRST LOVE, Trigram continues to deliver artistically-driven yet commercially viable films that will travel across continents and make their stand on the international stage.
